Time management procrastination resources

Do you find yourself overwhelmed with what you have to do? These time management procrastination resources could be of help to you.

Have you ever had to start a massive task such as:

  • planning your own wedding,
  • writing a large report for work,
  • renovating your house, or
  • studying for your end of year exams?

If so, then I am sure that you would agree that some good descriptions of these tasks would involve adjectives such as colossal, gigantic, and mammoth.

Often a task can be so overwhelming that you just don’t know where to start. It is a typical example of writer’s block, in which you are paralyzed by the enormity of the task that you are facing.

If this situation sounds familiar, there are a number of things that you can do:

  • Divide and conquer. This is the most common and often efficient method. Often, by breaking the task into smaller bite-sized pieces is an effective way to manage an overwhelming project. Once you have divided the tasks into smaller pieces, arrange the tasks in a logical sequence. This is quite similar to the development of an action plan within effective goal setting.
  • Jump in. By simply jumping into the game you will get a better idea of what you need to do. If you choose this option, stay in the game for as long as your concentration remains high. Take a break when your concentration starts to wander.
  • Get organized By having a place for everything, and everything in its place, you can get more organized. This site provides strategies to improve your organization and some common barriers that prevent you from being organized.
