Time management for teens - keeping track of my time

I found an important time management for teens tip was keeping track of my time. I used to have guitar practice, then softball and then get home around 6pm to do school work, but for some reason I just did seem to find time to do other things - like mom always wanted me to walk the dog. Then I started to track my time, you know, like keeping a diary of what I did each day. I thought I only spent 10 minutes on the phone to friends and maybe 1/2 hour on facebook - but realized after tracking my time that I was actually spending about 2 hours a day. I was shocked that this was how much time I was spending on these things. While I enjoyed chatting with friends, this showed me just how much time I was chatting. I now try to monitor my time more, and even sometimes am able to take the dog out for a walk now. Jan Kell's reply: Thanks for your tip for teen time management Jan. Keeping track of your time can certainly be a surprise. I remember tracking my time for a week and I was surprised at how long I spend on email. I did this by downloading and tracking with a time management log. The important thing though, is once you have collected this objective data on how you use your time, it is important to also analyze it and look for ways to become more effective.
