Pomodoro time management tool to increase productivity

by Clive

I have tried a number of time management techniques, and all seem to be based around the idea of getting tasks out of your head and onto paper, and then using some system that prioritizes tasks.

Any time management system that you use builds on this basic time management law.

But I quite liked the Pomodoro time management tool. Using this tool I found that:

1. I get distracted many more times than I thought,

2. that if I give myself blocks of time to do tasks, my focus increases exponentially.

3. that email and Facebook suck my time much more than I thought.

Interesting system and I think I will use it some.

Kell's reply" Thanks for your post Clive. I love the Pomodoro technique to increase focus and intensity in the block of time that I dedicate to different projects.

The good things is that I can set goals around the scores I get in the Pomodoro technique. For example, if I lose focus 8 times in a session then I set a goal to have less distractions.

I also find that by keeping a tab on these distractions I gain knowledge on those things that actually interrupt me. For example, the email alerts was one thing that the Pomodoro technique told me was affecting my focis.

As a result I turned off email alerts and increased my focus.
