Overcome your fear of change and live to your potential

Fear of change holds you back and stops you living to your potential.

Lets face it, we are creatures of habit. We often like to do things the way that we have always done them because we feel safe in our comfort zone. Making a change can reduce our security and invite the unexpected. Fearing change is a natural human reaction – indeed our greatest fear is the unknown.

However it is this fearful anticipation that can rob us of truly experiencing life. Often we may use excuses such as we want to feel safe, we don’t have the strength for change, or we want to stay in our comfort zone.

Routines and consistency are vitally important to human wellbeing. But it is when this need for security robs you of change that could be beneficial to you, that this fear becomes a problem.

It can rob you of living to your potential and the endless possibilities that you may encounter.

“The follies which a man regrets most in his life, are those which he didn't commit when he had the opportunity.” (Rowland, 1876 – 1950)

Avoiding or denying your fear only serves to intensify and increase the persistence of your fear. So the best way to move through your fear is to understand and get the root of what is causing it. A fear of change is synonymous with a fear of rejection, humiliation, or losing control. Underlying these fears is a lack of confidence and self-esteem.

Another way to explore your fear is to change your environment. Old habits cling to old locations, and changing your environment can spark new ways of exploring.
