Conquering procrastination when you have unclear goals
One cause of procrastination are unclear goals. Conquering procrastination can involve setting clear goals. Unclear goals can lead to ambiguity and a lack of motivation - leading to procrastination. Often when I give clients homework to set goals, the most common difficulty they have is setting specific and measurable goals. To properly set goals to reduce procrastination, the goals need to be
SMART goals.
That is they need to be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-based. In recent experimental studies conducted in 2008, when an action item is specific there is significantly less procrastination that occurs. Thus making your actions as specific as possible is likely to help you do the task. However, there are a number of other reasons why people procrastinate. If you find that you keep putting of those unpleasant tasks - the ones that you have to do, then beat procrastination with these tips. If you find that you are overwhelmed at work and you feel that this is a reason for your procrastination, then overcoming procrastination can occur through time management. Do you find that you regularly cram everything into the last minute - if so you may be addicted to the adrenaline rush. Leaving things do the last minute often causes stress and a lower quality of output. These solutions can break this procrastination habit. Do you have fear of failure and is this stopping you from living to your potential? If so, then try this to conquer your fear of failure. Do you put off doing tasks because you have a fear of change. If so, then try this to conquer your fear of change.
